Frequently Asked Questions
What does Heights PTA do? Heights PTA funds and delivers numerous academic and community-building events for Heights families. For an overview of what we do, checkout the Volunteer and Programs and Events tabs on our website.
Where does the money go when I donate? To see the breakdown of all that is funded by the Heights Community Campaign, visit click here.
I am already a PTA member and paid $10 dues. Why should I donate again? Over half of the membership dues go to State and National PTA, both of which advocate for all children and provide support to local PTAs. The remainder of the dues go to Heights PTA, however, this is a small percent of our total annual budget needs. Heights PTA is a non-profit organization and relies exclusively on donations.
I pay increasing property taxes. Why should I donate to the PTA? While State tax revenues continue to go up due to increased property valuations, State’s allocation for RISD operating budget continue to decrease. Under the Texas school finance system, the state - not school districts - benefits from additional tax dollars generated by increased property values. PTA is raising funds to fill the gaps in academic and community programs resulting from the record-low funding.
Do I have a say in how the PTA spends its money? The best way to make your voice heard is to join the PTA and be an active participant. Click here to learn more.
How much should I donate? The minimum suggested donation is $44 but any amount helps. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to help fund programs for our students and teachers.
Is my donation confidential? You may remain anonymous if you prefer.
Is my donation tax-deductible? Yes. Heights PTA is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization and your donation is 100% tax- deductible.
How do I make my donation? You can donate in one of three ways:
1) Send a check / cash with the attached form to your child's teacher or drop off at the School’s Front Desk.
2) Donate online by clicking here.
3) Mail a check to “Heights PTA, Attn. Heights Community Campaign, 101 N. Floyd Rd, Richardson, TX 75080”.
